My Entry for TIO #38 - Along the River

Here is my entry for this week's TIO #38 challenge Along the Rver. It has been set by Janet from Rednoss Ramblings. She has a lovely blog, so do visit her. I shall also enter it at Tellens Place, where the theme is simply tag you're it... well that's just made for me, so I MUST enter eh???

I decided it would be a simple and soft tag, but could not think what stamps to use. Then I remembered my Kodomo set, bamboo lake - ok it's not a river but it fits!! I made this one over a few days, because my back is really bad from walking so oddly with my knee!!!! So I printed the lake stamp and embossed in clear ep. Victorian velvet and stormy sky were scribbled on the heat sheet and sprtized... I embellished with some chipped sapphire and dried marigold, but basically kept it simple... the spikey stamp is a judikins and the crane is another Kodomo set - many of you will know it is a great favourite of mine...  used it because the original image seemed a bit feeble!!! The strong stamp brought the foliage and mistiness together, I think!!

TIO #16 Strictly for the Birds

Here is my entry for the TIO #16 challenge - strictly for the birds. I used several sets of stamps again this week (when don't I??!!) Two are by Kodomo, cranes and bamboo lake. I also used some clear stamps of bamboo and leaves. I used my brayer again, for the colouring in... I used the happy birthday Big n' Juicy, printing vertically with it and using it flat on the brayer. The tie is a bit of raffia. I think it works.

TIO #13 - Spots and Swirls in Pink

This is my tag for the TIO #13 challenge this week - can't believe it is 13 already!!! The theme is spots and swirls in pink, so I began by swirling distress inks in dusty concord, worn lipstick and twilight brilliance, on to my shiny card (note to self, begin in a different way next week!!!). It has been the anniversary of the lunar landing, and last night saw the longest eclipse of the sun to be seen in this century, so I used my cloudy moon stamp and Leda, from Stamp Addicts, by Judikins. The dots/spots are also by them. The swirls are from a UMount plate and I also used a Kodomo stamp - woodcut iv.

I began in the top left and bottom right, stamping the small spots and Hero Art small solid circle, then building several other textures by using clear ep. as I stamped. This pulls out the colour in some places and not others and adds to the intensity. I always start with the palest colours of ink and get darker towards the top. That way the piece acquires more depth - perhaps this would help those of you who say you can't collage and layer your stamps without it looking muddled!!?? I finished off with some narrow ribbon and strands of wool from my bit bag. I hope you enjoy the challenge this week, if you are joining in.

April Showers Rainbow Swap

How wicked am I ?? This is SO late and I have only excuses... But I hope my partner likes it and forgives me. At least I told her it was going to be late!!

I stamped a Kodomo lady for the front image, in versafine onyx black and embossed in clear. I took a shiny card and used my sponge pad on my alcohol ink tool. The ink pads were distress inks in old paper, mustard seed and dried marigold. After splodging all over in this mixture, I spritzed with water. The effect is beautiful. I was very taken with it. I had masked the lady, so she was white and so I painted her with the same inks, plus a little sparkle from Sakura pens. The embellishment is an inchie I made for my recent guest designer stint at InchyByInch. The rain / shower is done with a rule and a Zig millenium pen.

The back of the card is a stamp from Hobby Art called floral display. I LOVE it. I used the small floral scroll, too, to make the background, front and back. I have put the card into the post now, so my partner should get it soon... better later than never!!

TIO Challenge "Time and Tide"

Here is my tag, which I made for the challenge over on my TIO blog. I coloured it with Cosmic shimmer and Glimmer mists in blues and greens. The stamps are UMount, Kodomo and Dimension Fourth. I used clear embossing powder over versafine black and smokey, as well as some distress inks and printworks pads. I just kept adding "stuff" until it had the look I had dreamed!!

I love collage stamps, and find them so useful for this kind of work. This tag is quite large, at 6x3.5 + "wings"... It is shiny and very vibrant, but this does not show well on the screen. Thanks for looking.

Walking in the Evening Garden

A Lady for Rainbow Lady!! her challenge this week is to create a scene, and this is my entry. I have used lots of stamps again... Kodomo set Fanning Lady, my fav bamboo from a plate I have had too long to remember (NS?) and winter trees by Judikins. There is also a Japanese fabric cube from Judikins, and the grass border from Kodomo Butterflies set.

I stamped the lady in black stazon, masked her using Eclipse tape, and over printed with the trees, leaves and foliage. I brayered a background using gumdrop Big n Juicy, and then coloured the image with inktense pencils and a waterbrush. I am really enjoying these, and love the way they blend. Thanks for looking...

Follow My Leader

This bit of nonsense is for the challenge at InchyByInch this week, which is leadership. I used an image of cranes I have had for a long time, and altered the colour, printed small on to 6"x4" photographic paper. I stamped the border Kodomo cranes, twice on top, in shades of brown Blending Blox, and a large main image from the same set. The whole lot was cut up into inchies and pasted on to a piece of cream card, and the large crane put into the lead!! The display sheet is my beloved DCWV Far East stack, in postcard size - so useful... I think I have cheated a bit, but I enjoyed it anyway!!!

A Kiss, Please!

Here is a twinchie... so sweet this size. It features 2 butterflies for the challenge at Small World of Inchies and Twinchies - kiss. I have used some alcohol inks for the shiny card background, and the same, but on different card, for the Kodomo butterflies. The background stamp is a new set from UMount, called butterfly. I have used Adirondack pitch black, embossed with clear ep, and the whole piece is displayed on a text sheet from the postcard set from DCWV (once upon a time)
