This week chez Linda at Studio L3, it is GM again and she has asked us to go for texture fades and distress, using Sir Tim's inspiration from the Christmas tags here...
I used the clock and crown one and a usual sized tag, with it's end poking out as demonstrated!! Well, they can't touch you for it!!! Anyway, I went for a different idea to see if it worked , and mostly it did... will definitely do it again...
I swiped clear embossing ink over the texture fade then embossed in the Vagabond... Then, with 3 different embossing powders - white, silver and pewter - I highlighted different sections of the dry embossing...
This picture, above shows the great, grungy look I got when I distress inked all over with vintage photo... those birds sure do look in a pickle - no!!! sorry I mean distressed!!!
Truth be known, I would have preferred less powder on the debossed bits, so I must swipe EVEN more carefully next time (I was QUITE careful, THIS time actually, second go...!!) But the effect, in real life, is really pleasing, anyway.
This photo shows well the contrast between the metallic and white powders, and where the brown ink is seeping through...
So there it is, Grungy Wednesday afternoon... err sorry, Monday!!! Only a little late... Thanks for looking
Love and light

My Stampman DT Piece #20 and Grungy Monday #2
This piece is my design team entry at the Stampman challenge this fortnight... there are some wonderful pieces there, so why not have a look and join in??!! Neil is leading and has just joined our team and we are excited, cos he is so talented, so have a spy at his blog too... it's well worth it ... the link is there with his inspiration piece.
I am also entering this into the Grungy Monday challenge over at Studio L3 with the lovely Linda Ledbetter. For this, she asked us to base our piece on a video from Ranger for our edification!! Sir T!m showed us a different resist technique which I have tried here. I don't have any foamy stuff to make stamps yet, so I used a bought foam flourish stamp (can't remember where from) then swirled some vintage photo, spiced marmalade and such all over when the medium was dry... it showed up really well. So that's the background.
At the Stampman, the theme is embossing, so I decided to do dry and triple, just to be greedy. I whopped the musical folder through the bug - alas and alack my wonderful Vagabond is deceased... it is no more... it is an ex- machine!!! So it had to go back and there is no more stock yet... Opps, where was I???Oh yes, then I took a couple of alcohol inks plus gold, and dabbed like mad to fill in the indentations, followed by a generous swipe of archival black, to highlight (or should that be lowlight???!) the notes.
The triple embossing was done using clear UTEE, followed by several moonglow and distress eps, strategically placed to enhance the Aspect of Design botanical stamp. It's all finished off with a couple of pima flowers and a TH button, and a bookplate, in the coppery metal. The frame of the piece is made up of a few of the strips from the lost and found stash.
So there you have it... another much bigger piece, with a new-to-me technique, being the use of the medium to resist and a well loved one, which started me off in crafting in earnest, the triple embossing... Thanks for looking and please do leave a comment if you have time

Grungy Monday #1 - Tim Holtz Tag Technique
Well, here is my offering for this brand new challenge from StudioL3, and the lovely Linda Ledbetter. She wants us to create a tag using the techniques shown by Tim Holtz (stop trembling, Gaywood, and get on with telling it...!!!) on his 10th tag of 2008 Christmas... He created a background by using a mask and a home made spritz of distress ink and perfect pearls... Go check it all out, because it's well worth the inspiration!!!
I started with a large tag, and spritzed it with a mixture of antique linen and vintage photo, with some golden mica shaken in... The large clock mask is a fav of mine, and it always looks bold and beautiful. I sploged it with stormy sky, when it was dry then did the splatter thingy - sounds like a crazy dance!!! The bird is embossed with ep then cracked and he carries a crown I got from Lin Brown's shop, after the brilliant TH ArtsyCraft day... I took a Prima flower and added some new fangled mesh-type ribbon I found at the NEC on Friday... It's WONDERFUL stuff, and can be used for allsorts of things, including jewellery!!! Watch out for it 'cos I shall use it lots in future!! The button is TH again...
The last ickle bit I want to chat about is the tiny watch I made in shrink plastic and stuck to a sprocket gear... I love it and I shall do that again sometime too. So there you have it, my "cuckoo clock" for this premier launch challenge. There will be loads of crafters more able than I entering this one, but I bet they don't enjoy making their pieces as much as I did mine!!! tee hee.. I shall also enter it into the Simon Says Stamp and Show - a hat - I expect a crown will do!!
Thanks for looking, and please leave a comment, I love reading them...
