TIO # 12 Carte Postale (Oriental Lady)

The theme on my DragonsDream TIO challenge this week is to make a postcard tag. I bought the images I have used here at the Stamp Addicts retreat, and thought they would be just right, when I thought up the idea of a postcard. This is actually A5, bigger than postcard size, but the only rules are to use the postcard theme.

I began with a piece of coated card, and printed the postcard image, one I had from The Graphics Fairy. Then I began swirling colour in distress inks mustard seed and tattered rose. I had seen the tag as "yellow" and basically it is, with some old paper, spiced marmalade, faded jeans and broken china thrown in!! The images are by Curious by Design - Cherry Blossom set. However, the blossom itself is from a set from QVC, which came wooden mounted and I peeled it off, the better to stamp!!

And that's it really. I built up layers of stamps and hightlighted some areas with a little more neat colour, using cut n' dry, and cut the edge with my decal scissors, after adding a little scrap of yellow ribbon. There are a few splashes of glimmer mists and starburst stains, and the blossom is coloured using 703Sakura stardust, so much of it has a sheen and shimmer - in fact it looks like a piece of delicate silk. Fine Feathers

Here is my piece for two challenges this week. The first inspiration was feathers for TGIF, and the second was Make it Monday, turquoise. I began by making the backing paper, from a thin card, sprayed with several colours of Glimmer mists, such as turquoise, latte, sea glass and sea foam. When it was very wet, I did my old trick of covering it with bubble-wrap until it dried. This gave a wonderfully textured surface upon which I stamped the background feathers from the Elusive Images peacock plate. I covered them with clear ep, so they shine a little.

With the same colours of mists, I sprayed on to my heat sheet and placed another piece of thin card over to soak up the mixture for a smooth look, then I used my alcohol inks, in stream, butterscotch, bottle and latte, to make a wonderfully deep set of colours on top. I stamped the two square images with black stazon and used clear ep to make the image stand out. Several different feathers, from the plate, were stamped on to the smooth colour card, cut out and placed strategically on the sheet. The whole piece is displayed on a vintage cash sheet from The Graphics Fairy. This is all so much more colourful and shimmery in real life, than on the scan. I can see it will make into a card eventually. Thanks for looking - I was so tickled with the result!!! lol

A Rose by Any Other Name

This piece is for 3 different challenges this week. The first inspiration was Theme Thursday, whose challenge was label. The second challenge was Saturday Workout, who wanted us to use skink plastic, and My Time To Craft gave us the dare to use pink and brown.

I found this lovely label on The Graphics Fairy site and it inspired me to match it up with a new set of stamps from Elusive Images, the harlequin rose plate. The colours were chosen for me by the label and the MTTC theme, so I used my new Derwent pencils and my Lyra watercolours to create the rose topper and the swirly, leafy background paper - also a stamp from that plate. I sprayed it with latte, snow angel and watermelon Gimmer Mists. I printed a smaller rose on to a small piece of transluscent shrink plastic, and coloured it with Sakura Stardust pens. I made a hole in it before shrinking, and added a tiny pink ribbon, tied into a bow. The display paper is a light brown orange peel Bazill basics sheet and the whole piece is 8" square. Just a Few Lines

I have made the challenge ATC into a card for the RFs card swap, in February. I hope my partner likes it!! I have added a Bazzill basics crease card, in a lovely soft lime colour and some peel-off swirls (the swap is swirls and flourishes) I have also used my Cuttle Bug on the backer, with a little tag from an oriental kit, and another tiny postcard from the Graphics Fairy.

Think Monday, Think ATC - you have mail

This ATC was made using various stamps from an Egyptian plate by Non Sequitur and Kodomo fanning lady. The main postcard image was from The Graphics Fairy, who has some WONDERFUL images, so thanks to her!! The other papers are from Joanna Sheen pads. I have made it for a challenge at Think Monday, Think ATC, you have mail. I used my fav distress inks, and a new-to-me pad from Adirondack, called pitch black. Not used this brand before, and I like it. I also used some chalks in browns, to age the ATC itself, as well as the display background sheet.
